Note to self: Do not attempt to workout (especially on those days you'll be training with Moe) after having only yogurt for breakfast.

Yeah, today we did weights. I felt like I could drop any minute, that's how much energy I lacked this morning. Once again, I got to BB a little early. I did about fifteen minutes on the eliptical (okay, maybe it was only 10 minutes), and then made the rounds on the weight machines. I spent most of my time on the machines that would help firm up my butt, cuz let's face it, I need help firming it up. The Pilates definitely helps, but I'm looking for superfast results, doggone it.

I didn't overexert myself, but I think the lack of a balanced breakfast definitely hampered my boot camp performance. Once again, Monica was there all bright eyed and bushy tailed. Linda brought it today too, even showing up early for a proper warmup.

Moe had us do a lil' Yoga, and then off to the weights we went. Monica, Linda, and I did pretty well on the machines...I think we all had a good sweat going. Although according to my friend Leanne, women don't sweat, we glow.

I have nothing left to say, really. Oh my gosh, this was the least entertaining post I've ever done. Sorry guys, check back next week, and hopefully by then, I will have brought back my A game.

Peace.

I promise it’s not laziness that prevents me from keeping up with the blog, it’s just that I don’t have a lot of free time, since I have two jobs (gotta pay off those student loans somehow).

Let’s see…Monday was our first Jammin’ 105.9/BodyBusiness Boot Camp. Five were chosen, but only four stepped up to the challenge: Monica, Brenda, Linda, and Debi. We met with Moe in the circuit room. That day was pretty much just like my first meeting with Moe, in that it was basically a test of our fitness levels. There were push-ups, crunches, and sometimes tears. I tried to be inspiring, but apparently Monica put me to shame on some of our exercises. I am, however, pleased to report that I actually was able to do 20 push-ups before my near collapse. Oh, we also took a brisk walk around the neighborhood (which would require me to take on an additional 2 jobs or find a sugar daddy if I were to live there). It was a good workout, and everyone was enthusiastic.

Tuesday, I had Pilates with Suzanne, who is just so doggone awesome. I’m gonna miss it when our sessions end at the end of the month, because I’ve truly been getting some great results from it. I haven’t been losing weight as fast as I was last year (since I’ve been building up a lot more muscle), but I am getting much leaner, and I’m starting to get my butt back (come on, we all want a nice firm butt), which is oh so nice. Suzanne had me doing a few more maneuvers (stretches) on the reformer to help with my flexibility, which I really need, especially on the right side of my body. Of course there was more mat work, some of which I’ve been doing at home. What can I say, I’m dedicated.

Wednesday, Thursday, I did my usual 45 minutes on the ol’ stationary bike at home; even on those mornings when I really didn’t get enough sleep or feel like working out.

Today, oh geez, today I woke up just before 4 am and couldn’t get back to sleep to save my life. Around 4:45, once I’d determined I was wide awake, I had a brilliant (but not really) idea: I’ll exercise to make myself tired. I rode my stationary bike for 45 minutes. So once I’d ridden the bike and done my stretches, it was 5:40. Now I’m really awake, with no time to take a nap; see what I mean when I said my idea was not so brilliant? I ate my Special K, changed into clothes that were not so drenched in sweat, and headed out to BB.

I got there at 6:30. So there I was, working out for a second time this morning, looking around to see if any of my fellow boot campers had paid attention to the email I sent yesterday encouraging everyone to get there early to warm up. Alas, I was alone, except for the twenty or so other sweaty individuals at the club. I did ten minutes on the elliptical, then made the rounds on the weight machines for twenty minutes. Yeah, I may have overdone it a bit, but that’s what happens when I don’t get enough sleep, I don’t think things through properly. Crack whore.

Moving right along…

It’s 7 am. I see Moe. I see Brenda and Monica. The other two, apparently decided to sleep in, but that’s okay, because it seems that I worked out enough for the two of them. Today, Moe had us doing some kickboxing. My favorite, when I’m not exhausted. So we were all kind of excited. Despite having to tap into my energy reserves, I put forth a great effort. Jabs, Crosses, Uppercuts, and Knees (picture kneeing someone in the groin with all your might). Monica and Brenda were really into it (I think Brenda said she’s been doing some Tae Bo, too). While one person was hitting the pads with Moe, the other two did some circuit training, so we were all constantly moving. Fun was had by all, lemme tell ya. And that’s not me being facetious either, we really did have a good time. Linda and Debi really missed out.

I can’t wait to see what Moe has planned for us on Monday. It’s nice having others to share my pain.

I think this is the first time in my entire life I’ve been so serious about working out. I think it’s mostly because I am determined not to gain any of that 67 pounds (as of this morning, three cheers for Shalonn) back. It's 11, so excuse me while I go stuff my face with Thai food.

I am unbelievably tired today. I’m at the point where I can barely think, so I apologize if I become incoherent during the course of my latest update.

I've received a couple of emails from my bootcampers who I will meet on Monday. I almost feel I should send an email to tell a little about myself, too. If only I weren't feeling so lazy today.

I’ll perk up around eight tonight. I love Wednesday nights, cuz that’s when I get to see Lost and Veronica Mars, which are the two best shows on TV. I hate that they air opposite each other, but I guess that’s what DVRs are for.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand…

I woke up at 2:30 in the morning yesterday, and couldn’t get back to sleep for the life of me. Around 5:30 it was time to get on up and head over to BodyBusiness Davenport. I had a Pilates session at 6:30, and I like to warm up beforehand.

Man, you should’ve seen me jammin’ on that elliptical machine. I was like a woman possessed…even the lady next to me commented on it. Amazing how far I’ve come after just a couple of months.

So after warming up on the elliptical and spending a few minutes on a couple of the weight machines, I was ready for my session with Suzanne. I signed on for three months of Pilates, so my one on one sessions end at the end of the month, which makes me a little sad, because I’m really enjoying myself.

Anyway, Suzanne asked if there was anything in particular I wanted to focus on for the next few weeks. I said (like an idiot) I’d like to learn more mat work, since that’s what the classes entail. I forgot how much I hate mat work. Granted, I get a lot out of it, and I’m cool with it after the fact, but during the mat exercises, I’m hating life. We did some “sideline kicks”, and the “teaser” and some other moves. My muscles still aren’t as flexible as they were before I got sick and took that week off from exercising, but I’m getting there. Anyway, my stiffness made some of the moves more difficult than they normally would’ve been, but I hung in there. I can always tell when I’m doing something wrong, cuz that’s then Suzanne gives my head, or whatever appendage is nearest her, a little push. I will say this, though, I did the dreaded “One Hundred” with no complaining whatsoever, almost.

So after the mat, we got on the reformer, and did the usual. Did I mention the reformer is my favorite? I like it more than the “Cadillac,” and much more than the mat. However, the “high barrel” is really growing on me cuz I can get some good stretches in, and believe me, I need all the help I can get in that department. Honestly, sometimes I don’t feel like doing more work after an hour of walking or biking or whatever I do, but I guess I gotta get it in gear or risk injury somewhere along the way.

Anyway, I’d tell you to check back next week, same Bat-time, but I don’t wanna be a liar on top of being a slacker.

I apologize for being such a slacker. Since Moe posted the link to the ol’ blog on the email she sent to the boot camp participants, I guess I need to get it in gear…

Okay, last week:

Monday, I had my personal training session with Moe. I had been sick with the flu the week before, so I wasn’t back to 100% in terms of my energy level during our workout. There was lots and lots of sweating, more so than usual, but I think it’s cuz my body was still trying to expel all those flu toxins. I also felt really tired and had a hard time concentrating, which is unusual…Oh, now I remember, I was trying to play cat-up after going almost a week without exercising. That morning I rode my stationary bike for 35 minutes, took a three mile walk around Town Lake, and then showed up at my training session at 10:30. Busy morning, no wonder I was so out of it, but I did give it my best.

One of the things I’ve noticed is that the exercises that make me look stupid (in my opinion) also give me the best workout. I did some weird squatting on a ball thing, that resulted in my thighs hurting for a few days…or it could have been the unreasonable amount of weight Moe put on the leg press.

For those of you selected for the boot camp, I warn you that Moe doesn’t know her right from her left, so you’ll have to be patient with her. Also, you’ll probably wanna get to Body Business Davenport 15 – 20 minutes before our sessions to get warmed up. I’ll be there early too, so we can sweat and moan together. I’m not sure that came out right.

Moving right along…

Tuesday morning I met with Suzanne, the Pilates Queen. We did a few more advanced moves than usual. I did this move called the “Russian Splits” on the reformer. It was not exactly the easiest move, but I was surprised at how well I performed, considering my legs were still a little sore from the day before.

Thankfully, we did some exercises on the half barrel, which allowed me to stretch my muscles, which had grown a little still from my lack of exercise. Let me tell you, those stretches felt so doggone good.

If you’ve never tried Pilates before, you may want to think about it. I haven’t gone to any of the classes yet (which entails mat work), but I’ve been getting a great workout from Suzanne. To be honest, when I first started, I didn’t think I’d get much out of it, but after the second session, I felt leaner (looked leaner, too) and more flexible. A lot of that also has to do with Suzanne being such a great instructor. Looking forward to tomorrow’s Pilates session, and I’ll try to be more prompt with the blog updates.
