I promise it’s not laziness that prevents me from keeping up with the blog, it’s just that I don’t have a lot of free time, since I have two jobs (gotta pay off those student loans somehow).
Let’s see…Monday was our first Jammin’ 105.9/BodyBusiness Boot Camp. Five were chosen, but only four stepped up to the challenge: Monica, Brenda, Linda, and Debi. We met with Moe in the circuit room. That day was pretty much just like my first meeting with Moe, in that it was basically a test of our fitness levels. There were push-ups, crunches, and sometimes tears. I tried to be inspiring, but apparently Monica put me to shame on some of our exercises. I am, however, pleased to report that I actually was able to do 20 push-ups before my near collapse. Oh, we also took a brisk walk around the neighborhood (which would require me to take on an additional 2 jobs or find a sugar daddy if I were to live there). It was a good workout, and everyone was enthusiastic.
Tuesday, I had Pilates with Suzanne, who is just so doggone awesome. I’m gonna miss it when our sessions end at the end of the month, because I’ve truly been getting some great results from it. I haven’t been losing weight as fast as I was last year (since I’ve been building up a lot more muscle), but I am getting much leaner, and I’m starting to get my butt back (come on, we all want a nice firm butt), which is oh so nice. Suzanne had me doing a few more maneuvers (stretches) on the reformer to help with my flexibility, which I really need, especially on the right side of my body. Of course there was more mat work, some of which I’ve been doing at home. What can I say, I’m dedicated.
Wednesday, Thursday, I did my usual 45 minutes on the ol’ stationary bike at home; even on those mornings when I really didn’t get enough sleep or feel like working out.
Today, oh geez, today I woke up just before 4 am and couldn’t get back to sleep to save my life. Around 4:45, once I’d determined I was wide awake, I had a brilliant (but not really) idea: I’ll exercise to make myself tired. I rode my stationary bike for 45 minutes. So once I’d ridden the bike and done my stretches, it was 5:40. Now I’m really awake, with no time to take a nap; see what I mean when I said my idea was not so brilliant? I ate my Special K, changed into clothes that were not so drenched in sweat, and headed out to BB.
I got there at 6:30. So there I was, working out for a second time this morning, looking around to see if any of my fellow boot campers had paid attention to the email I sent yesterday encouraging everyone to get there early to warm up. Alas, I was alone, except for the twenty or so other sweaty individuals at the club. I did ten minutes on the elliptical, then made the rounds on the weight machines for twenty minutes. Yeah, I may have overdone it a bit, but that’s what happens when I don’t get enough sleep, I don’t think things through properly. Crack whore.
Moving right along…
It’s 7 am. I see Moe. I see Brenda and Monica. The other two, apparently decided to sleep in, but that’s okay, because it seems that I worked out enough for the two of them. Today, Moe had us doing some kickboxing. My favorite, when I’m not exhausted. So we were all kind of excited. Despite having to tap into my energy reserves, I put forth a great effort. Jabs, Crosses, Uppercuts, and Knees (picture kneeing someone in the groin with all your might). Monica and Brenda were really into it (I think Brenda said she’s been doing some Tae Bo, too). While one person was hitting the pads with Moe, the other two did some circuit training, so we were all constantly moving. Fun was had by all, lemme tell ya. And that’s not me being facetious either, we really did have a good time. Linda and Debi really missed out.
I can’t wait to see what Moe has planned for us on Monday. It’s nice having others to share my pain.
I think this is the first time in my entire life I’ve been so serious about working out. I think it’s mostly because I am determined not to gain any of that 67 pounds (as of this morning, three cheers for Shalonn) back. It's 11, so excuse me while I go stuff my face with Thai food.
